Arboricultural & Tree Care Services
Our Approach
A considered approach, from first assessment to final cut
At Oakhurst Arboriculture, our approach is defined by experience, planning, and sound judgement. High-quality arboricultural work begins long before anyone climbs a tree — with careful assessment, clear advice, and proper preparation.
Every project is planned with safety, compliance, and long-term outcomes in mind. We take the time to understand the tree, its setting, and any legal or environmental constraints before deciding the right course of action — so the work is carried out responsibly, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
From first assessment through to completion, our focus stays the same: doing the work properly, communicating clearly, and delivering results that stand up to professional scrutiny.
From a single garden tree to estate-wide woodland management and survey work for development, we deliver the full range of arboricultural services — every project approached the same way: proper assessment, clear advice, and work carried out safely and to recognised standards.
Our Services
-
Crown reductions, thinning, crown lifting, and formative pruning, carried out to British Standard 3998. Pruned well, a tree is healthier, safer, and better shaped while keeping its natural form; pruned badly, the damage lasts for years. We work with the long-term health of the tree in mind — equally suited to a private garden specimen and a mature estate landscape. Who it's for: homeowners, estates, managing agents. → Read more about Tree Pruning & Reductions
-
The controlled removal of trees that are dead, dangerous, or no longer viable to retain — including sectional dismantling in confined spaces or over buildings where straightforward felling isn't possible. We assess every removal carefully, confirm any legal constraints such as Tree Preservation Orders or conservation areas first, and leave the site clean and safe. Who it's for: all clients; frequent on development and estate sites. → Read more about Tree Felling & Removal
-
Targeted work to address structural weakness, decay, deadwood, and storm damage — including crown work, bracing, and selective reductions that help retain a valued tree where it's safe to do so. The aim is always to preserve the tree where possible and remove risk where it isn't. Who it's for: estates, high-value private clients, commercial property managers. → Read more about Remedial Tree Work
-
Regular and restorative hedge care, from the precise shaping of formal hedges to bringing neglected or overgrown hedges back under control. Well-managed hedges define a landscape, provide privacy, and support wildlife — and benefit from a consistent, considered maintenance regime. Who it's for: homeowners, estates, commercial grounds. → Read more about Hedge Maintenance & Trimming
-
The right species in the right place. We advise on suitable species for the soil, setting, and purpose, then supply and plant them to establish well and perform for the long term — whether that's a single specimen, a new hedge line, or estate-scale planting. Who it's for: estates, landowners, homeowners, developers (landscaping schemes). → Read more about Tree & Hedge Planting
-
Professional surveys, reports, and arboricultural advice — including BS5837 tree surveys for planning and development, Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Method Statements, Tree Protection Plans, condition and risk assessments, and long-term management plans. Clear, impartial, and prepared to stand up to scrutiny from planners and insurers. Who it's for: developers, architects, planning consultants, estates, managing agents. → Read more about Tree Surveys & Consultancy
-
Efficient removal of tree stumps below ground level, clearing the way for replanting, landscaping, or simply a clean finish. We work around access constraints and nearby services, and remove or repurpose the arisings as required. Who it's for: all clients, typically following a removal. → Read more about Stump Grinding
-
Vegetation, scrub, and tree clearance for development, access, and land management — planned with proper regard for protected trees, nesting birds, and other environmental constraints. We help sites move forward while keeping the work compliant and well documented. Who it's for: developers, contractors, landowners. → Read more about Site Clearance
-
Woodland management, thinning, coppicing, and silvicultural work that improves the health, structure, and long-term value of wooded land. A planned approach keeps woodland productive, safe, and resilient over time. Who it's for: estates, landowners, woodland owners. → Read more about Forestry & Silviculture
-
Quality woodchip and timber produced from our own operations, available for supply across the region — from mulch and biomass woodchip to logs and milled timber. Who it's for: landowners, trade, local buyers. → Read more about Woodchip & Timber Sales
-
A prompt, professional response to storm damage, fallen or failed trees, and other urgent situations that present a risk to people or property. We make the situation safe quickly and advise on any further work needed. Who it's for: all clients; estates and managing agents with duty-of-care obligations. → Read more about Emergency Tree Work
Our clients range from private homeowners to landed estates and development teams. Whatever the setting, the approach is the same — clear advice, careful planning, and work delivered to a consistent professional standard.
Our Process
Enquiry & initial discussion
You get in touch and tell us what you need. We listen, ask the right questions, and establish the scope — whether that’s a single tree, an ongoing estate programme, or survey work to support a planning application. From the first conversation, the aim is clarity.
Site visit & assessment
A qualified arborist visits to assess the trees, the site, and any constraints — access, nearby structures, protected trees, wildlife, and any legal considerations. Accurate assessment is where good work begins; we don’t recommend work before we understand the whole picture.
Clear advice, proposal and quotation
We set out what we recommend, why, and what it will achieve — in plain terms — with a clear, itemised quotation. No pressure and no jargon: just the information you need to make an informed decision.
Permissions & compliance
Where work involves a Tree Preservation Order or a conservation area, we identify what consent is required and can manage the applications on your behalf. For commercial and development sites, we prepare the risk assessments, method statements, and tree protection measures the work demands.
The work
Carried out by qualified, insured arborists to the relevant British Standards — BS3998 for tree work and BS5837 where trees relate to development — with the right equipment and safety measures in place. We work efficiently, protect your property throughout, and keep you informed.
Aftercare & ongoing management
We clear the arisings, leave the site tidy, and confirm the work is complete to the agreed scope. Timber and woodchip can be removed or repurposed as required, and stump grinding arranged to finish.
For many clients — particularly estates and managing agents — tree care is continuous, not a one-off. We can recommend sensible re-inspection intervals and provide long-term management plans, so the relationship continues beyond the day we leave site.
Let’s Discuss Your Project
Whether you need a single tree assessed, an estate’s trees managed, or survey work to support a planning application, we’re happy to help. Get in touch to discuss your requirements and arrange a clear next step.
